East Bremer Regional Recycling Authority (EBRRA)
The East Bremer Regional Recycling Authority opened on October 1, 2009. A year later, the Iowa Recycling Association honored the agency with the 2010 Best Government Recycling Program Award.
For your convenience, the City provides recycling containers located at:
- 102 1st Street N.E. (white building)
- Open: 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

Accepted Recyclables
There are 8 divided areas for drop-off:
Milk Jugs Only
- Separate slot provided
- Must be rinsed
- Lids removed
All Other Plastics
- Located beside the recycling building
- Accepts #1 clear, #2 colored, #3, #4, #5, and #7 plastics
- Must be cleaned
- Lids removed (most lids are not recyclable; dispose at home)
Unsorted Office Paper
- White and colored paper
- Envelopes accepted
Newspaper
- Separate slots for newspapers and magazines
- Flyers and coupon sheets included with newspaper
Magazines
- Separate slot from newspapers
Tin Cans
- Must be rinsed
- Lids and labels removed
Chipboard
- Examples: cereal boxes, pop/beer cartons, cracker boxes, tissue boxes, chipboard egg cartons
- Single-layer material (does not crush easily)
- Break down and flatten boxes for more space
Cardboard
- Dumpsters outside the building for corrugated cardboard\ (“sandwich-like” material that crushes easily)
- Break down and flatten boxes
- Slots inside the building for other recyclables
Items Not Accepted
- Glass containers
- Grocery bags (paper or plastic)
- Styrofoam (including egg cartons)
- Salt bags, feed/seed bags, wax cartons
- Shrink wrap
- Five-gallon plastic pails
- Gift wrapping paper
- Shredded paper
- Oil containers
- Batteries of any kind
- Fluorescent or incandescent tubes/bulbs
